The scientific name for Garlic depends on the type, but typically it's
Allium sativum, a member of the onion family. It is native to Central Asia and fortunately for us, made it's way into the Mediterranean region as a cooking staple, as well as a seasoning in Asian, African, and European foods.
Garlic Garden uses the Monviso variety grown in the Santa Clara Valley, California by Christopher Ranch. Their garlic is consistently flavorful and is used all over the United States by top chefs, so naturally it's good enough to use in our Lebanese Breeze recipes.
Since we use pure garlic and all natural ingredients, our garlic recipes carry all the nutritional value associated with the herb. From ancient times, garlic has been used to enhance strength and endurance, and was also commonly used in medicines. Today, Garlic has been scientifically proven to be rich in manganese, vitamin B6 and C, and is a good source of thiamin (vitamin B1), phosphorus, selenium, calcium, potassium, iron and copper.
Garlic also contains an abundance of antioxidants, which have been found to reduce the risk of cancer and heart disease in certain conditions. Of course, Garlic may not be a cure all / miracle herb, but it sure tastes good…and Lebanese Breeze makes it taste even better.
